Meet the Grower: Dean Fallis
Dean Fallis has been a fixture at the Market for as long as I have been shopping there. According to him, it has been 10 years, off and on. You can see him on Saturday mornings in his usual spot with gourmet vegetables and herbs that you “won’t find at the supermarket!”
I particularly look forward to his sunflowers, Brussels sprouts, and cabbages. But Dean and Lisa Fallis and Tiara Sheard also grow and bring kale, collard greens, garlic, heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, gourmet fingerling potatoes (another favorite), potted herbs and flowers, and beautiful cut flowers in season including gladiolas, zinnias, and lily bouquets.
Bloomer’s Greenhouse is located in West Point, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Dean has been in farming all his life and believes it is important to keep the “old style” of truck farming and producing one’s own food alive for future generations, as well as today’s health-conscious consumer. Just stop by his booth on Saturday morning and ask him about his offerings. He is a wealth of knowledge and has wonderful plants and produce too. The Market is fortunate to have Bloomer’s as a long-time vendor.
