The BRVA Beautification Committee works to keep the Village clean for our residents and visitors!  They maintain several common areas and medians, organize community clean-ups, work with businesses to improve properties and much more.  If you would like to join the committee or assist with clean-ups, visit the volunteer website page and complete the Volunteer Interest form.

MONTHLY VILLAGE CLEANUPS

• Join us each month for  litter clean-ups and light weeding in the Village!
• Held the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to noon.
• Meet at the Firehouse (6330 Guilford Ave) at 10:00.
• No clean-up held if it is raining, snowing, or below 32 degrees.
• Gloves and supplies provided, just show up!
• Sponsored by the BRVA and Broad Ripple Kiwanis.

CLEANING PARTNERSHIP RESULTS FOR 2017

One of the goals of the BRVA Beautification Committee is to maintain cleanliness in the Village.  In the summer of 2017, the committee used volunteers to evaluate businesses in the Village to help give an idea of how the public perceives cleanliness in the Village. Businesses received ratings of “clean,” “fair,” “dirty,” and “construction” on different aspects of their property in the following categories:

• Cleanliness of building entrances, sidewalks, curbs, landscaping beds/tree grates, parking lots, loading docks, alleys, trash receptacles, drain covers, signage, awnings

• Building in good repair and attractive, no graffiti, broken windows, windows/doors clean, lights in working order, brick/siding gutters clean

• Sidewalks free from any obstructions/obstacles, snow/ice removal (in season), trees/shrub trimmed

• No handbills or advertising found on phone poles, on vehicles, or electrical boxes, etc.

This data was used to assign overall beautification ratings for each business. Overall ratings were assigned as follows: Clean= 80%-100%, Fair= 60%-79%, Dirty = 59% or less. They are subjective but represent what visitors see when they visit Broad Ripple. The goal is to see scores improve until all businesses are rated clean! The businesses that were evaluated can be seen on the map below.
