This morning’s article covered a potential option for the now-vacant BRHS parcel. We will continue to advocate for transformative redevelopment that includes a school and is appropriate for our neighborhood. Read the full statement we submitted to Tim Swarens below.

Since early 2017, when Indianapolis Public Schools announced the closure of Broad Ripple High School, BRVA has worked to ensure the community’s voice is heard as IPS decides the property’s fate. During that time, we’ve been presented with several interesting ideas for potential re-use, and our position remains consistent.

The Broad Ripple community – via more than 600 meeting attendees and survey respondents – sent a clear message regarding its desire to retain a hub for public education and community gathering at the BRHS property.

If IPS and Indy Eleven indicate a willingness to move forward on a Broad Ripple stadium proposal, BRVA would advocate strongly for a commitment to scholastic and civic-minded components and would re-engage citizens to seek the best possible outcome for our community.
