The Greatest Spectacle in Rubber Duck Racing!
It may not be the Indy 500, but it’s just as exciting to see which lucky duck takes the checkered flag. Join us this year on Sunday, June 4 for the Broad Ripple Duck Race.
FREE children’s activities will be set up on the Rainbow Bridge overlooking the Broad Ripple Canal on Guilford Avenue north of Westfield Boulevard for families to enjoy from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Promptly at 4:30, three thousand rubber ducks will enter the water at the Start Line where the Monon trail crosses the Central Canal. The ducks race west down the canal towards the Finish Line located by the pedestrian bridge near College Avenue.
Proceeds support BRVA programs and projects focused on enriching the community, attracting investment, amplifying public spaces, and improving quality of life in Broad Ripple.

To participate in the Duck Race all you have to do is purchase a duck or paddling of 6 ducks and you are entered in the race. You can purchase ducks at the Duck Race or at various BRVA events in May and June. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The prizes are gift cards from Broad Ripple merchants. First prize is valued at over $500. We will announce the winner by the name and you do not have to be present to win.
Buy your duck and get in the race!
Ducks are only $6 each. Increase your chances of winning by buying a paddling (6 ducks for $30). Ducks may be purchased with cash or debit cards. Credit cards not accepted due to Indiana State Law. You must be 18 years old to purchase a duck as the race is considered a gambling event.
Ducks may be purchased at the Duck Race, at the BRVA office, at the Broad Ripple Farmers Market starting in May, or at other BRVA events.
Enjoy the children’s activities!
From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., families can partake in a variety of FREE activities on the Rainbow Bridge (where Guilford Avenue crosses the Central Canal). Enjoy face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon artistry, art and crafts, carnival games, and much more. There will also be pizza and popsicles available for purchase.
Be a spectator!
The ducks launch from the Monon Trail bridge at 4:30 and travel west to the Pedestrian Bridge near College Avenue. There is plenty of space to watch the race on either side of the Central Canal between the Monon Trail Bridge, the Rainbow Bridge and College Avenue. The Canal Esplanade is now open on the north bank between College and Guilford and is a popular viewing spot to see the ducks reach the finish line!
