BOARD ELECTION INFORMATION

The annual board election will take place at this meeting.  The Board of Directors of the Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA) provides guidance, oversight, and hands-on expertise in all facets of the organization. Through its volunteers and standing committees, BRVA monitors developments in the Village and works with city officials to promote neighborhood safety and improvements; communicates with its stakeholders on activities in the neighborhood; promotes its member businesses to the community, and sponsors numerous special events. These activities are designed to maintain and enhance the livability and desirability of Broad Ripple as a premier neighborhood and cultural district within Indianapolis.

The BRVA Board has 15 members, each serving a 3-year term and each year 5 director terms expire.  New board members are elected via a slating process.  The public was invited to apply last month and applications were accepted. The selection committee interviewed all applicants and nominated five candidates based upon those best suited for the current needs of the board.  We now ask the membership to approve the slate.

The Governance selection committee is a combination of board members and BRVA members in the community.  The committee includes Cathy Adler, David Amstutz, Matt Hornyak, Josh John, Garrett Lawton, Mike Simmons, and Barbara Wilder.

The five candidates on the slate are:

·  Sarah Myers

·  Casey Springer

·  Tina Sullivan

·  Kip Tew

·  Karen Valiquett

BRVA Resident and Business Members are invited to attend the BRVA Annual Meeting to cast their vote to approve the slate.  Non-members may become members or renew their membership online in advance or at the BRVA table at the event.
