The Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Dicken as its new Executive Director! Dicken brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and neighborhood advocacy to the role.

A longtime Midtown Indianapolis resident and deeply engaged community leader, Dicken joins BRVA after serving as Advocacy and Engagement Director at the Martin Luther King Community Center, where she led initiatives focused on housing, youth development, civic participation, and equitable community growth. Her work has centered on building trust-based partnerships with residents, businesses, and civic institutions to strengthen neighborhoods and advance inclusive prosperity.

“I’m excited to join the Broad Ripple Village Association and to begin building relationships across the neighborhood,” said Dicken. “Broad Ripple reflects the care and commitment of so many board members, volunteers, neighbors, and business owners, and I’m grateful for the work they’ve already done. I believe deeply in the power of neighbors working together with respect and care for all people to transform our community, and I’m eager to be part of that shared work in this next chapter of the BRVA.”

As Executive Director, Dicken will lead BRVA’s efforts to support local businesses, foster community connection, steward neighborhood advocacy initiatives, and continue positioning Broad Ripple as a vibrant cultural and economic hub within Indianapolis.

“We are delighted to welcome Mary Dicken to the BRVA,” said Bryan Phillips, BRVA Board President. “Mary’s 20+ years of community leadership and experience will be instrumental in advancing our mission and making a lasting impression in Broad Ripple.”

Dicken’s career includes executive leadership roles, board service, and extensive experience in fundraising, strategic planning, public engagement, and organizational management. She brings a deep appreciation for Broad Ripple’s role as a gathering place for the broader Midtown community and a commitment to guiding its continued growth with intention and collaboration. She also serves as clergy in The United Methodist Church and a professional musician with orchestras throughout the region.
