BRVA Member Spotlight: Kristen Alderson, Love, Broad Ripple
Inviting People to Rediscover Broad Ripple.
One of Kristen Alderson’s favorite conversations starts with a familiar sentence: “I haven’t been to Broad Ripple since I was 22 or 23.”
She smiles when she hears it. “Perfect,” she says.
Because she knows Broad Ripple has a new story to tell.
For Kristen, who serves as president of the volunteer-led organization Love, Broad Ripple, helping people rediscover the neighborhood is at the heart of everything she does. Through events like Third Thursday, she wants neighbors and visitors alike to experience the Village as it is today — a place filled with local businesses, live music, art, restaurants, and community.
“I think it’s just really great in any community to bring positivity and highlight all of the good things we have going on,” she says.
Love, Broad Ripple’s signature event, Third Thursday, takes place every third Thursday from March through October. During the warmer months, the evening also features an outdoor market with local artists and makers. Businesses throughout the Village offer special events, promotions, live music, and experiences that encourage people to explore.
Whether someone is planning a girls’ night out, bringing the kids, or looking for a date night, Kristen says there’s something for everyone in Broad Ripple.
“There are so many good things happening here,” she says. “It is a safe and vibrant neighborhood, and we love it so much.”
That desire to tell a fuller story about Broad Ripple is one reason Love, Broad Ripple recently became a BRVA member.
“Our mission is to support the neighborhood,” Kristen says. “As a long-standing civic organization in Broad Ripple, becoming a BRVA member only made sense.”
She sees the Village Association as another way to help people discover local businesses, learn what’s happening in the neighborhood, and strengthen partnerships among the people and organizations working to make Broad Ripple thrive.
