Tucked into Broad Ripple is a space that’s redefining what skincare can be…not just about beauty, but about care, education, and healing.
Meet Shear Elegance Day Spa, owned by Ursula Shelton, a licensed esthetician, cosmetologist, educator, and advocate with more than 36 years of experience in the beauty and wellness industry. Though she’s been part of the industry for decades, Shear Elegance has officially been part of the Broad Ripple community for just over a year, and already it’s making a meaningful impact.
At Shear Elegance, clients can enjoy a range of services including customized facials, massage therapy, and soon, nail services. But what truly sets Ursula apart is her specialized focus on oncology-safe skincare, a highly trained and deeply intentional approach to treating individuals undergoing or recovering from cancer treatments.
A Purpose-Driven Path
Ursula’s journey into oncology aesthetics wasn’t planned, it was personal.
After noticing unexpected and concerning changes in a longtime client’s skin, Ursula later learned her client was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. That moment changed everything.
“I realized I didn’t know enough,” Ursula shared. “So I went and got the education.”
She enrolled in an intensive oncology skincare program in Chicago, diving deep into the science of cancer treatments and how they affect the skin at a cellular level. What she learned reshaped her entire approach.
Today, Ursula provides gentle, informed, and safe skincare treatments designed specifically for those navigating chemotherapy, radiation, and recovery. She also partners with an oncology-trained massage therapist to offer a more holistic level of care.
More Than Skin Deep
Oncology skincare isn’t as simple as using “sensitive” products, it requires knowledge, precision, and care.
“You have to understand what their skin is going through,” Ursula explains. “You can’t just put anything on it. It has to work with what their body is already experiencing, not against it.”
Her work bridges the gap between beauty and wellness, offering clients not just treatments, but comfort, confidence, and understanding during incredibly vulnerable times.
A Space for Education & Empowerment
Beyond her services, Ursula is passionate about educating others in the industry. She actively mentors estheticians and advocates for higher standards when working with oncology clients.
Her mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that no one feels overlooked or unsafe when seeking skincare during or after treatment.
Rooted in Community
In just one year, Shear Elegance has become a meaningful addition to Broad Ripple offering a unique service rooted in compassion, expertise, and care.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing facial, therapeutic massage, or specialized oncology skincare, Ursula has created a space where every client is treated with intention.
