How to Roast Garlic

Ingredients:

  • 1 head garlic 
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or more)
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Slice off the very top of the garlic head. Place in a piece of foil and drizzle olive oil inside the head of garlic until it is completely filled and just starting to run down the side.
  3. Wrap tightly with foil and place on a cookie sheet and bake until tender and fragrant, roughly 35 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool. Peel outside off of bulb of garlic, then gently squeeze each clove out.

  1. Mix into mashed potatoes
  2. Use as a base on homemade pizza.
  3. Combine with mayonnaise and/or mustard for sandwich spread.
  4. Add to soups for subtle garlic flavor.
  5. Cook vegetables and toss with roasted garlic.
  6. Mix into ground meat for great burgers.
  7. Add to a juicy steak.
  8. Mix into softened butter, then use for grilled cheese sandwiches.
  9. Mix into hummus.
  10. Rub onto raw chicken before baking.
  11. Add to gravy for deeper flavor.
