Spring Won’t Last Forever
Here we are at the end of May, which means Summer is coming in just a few more weeks and warmer weather will bring the end of asparagus and peas and strawberries. Seasonal eating means making use of what is here now and enjoying it thoroughly while it lasts. The end of Spring also means the window to get your gardens and flower beds planted will be closing soon as true growing season kicks in. Get Dirt Rich is here for just two more Saturdays at the Market with composted gardening soil. Many vendors still have plenty of vegetable, herb, and flower plants available for your gardening needs. It’s a time of wonderful possibilities. Come to the Market and celebrate the season with us!
Vendor Highlights for May 30, Week #5
VENDOR NEWS & UPDATES:
- Look for fresh produce like garlic scapes, strawberries, asparagus, rhubarb, scallions, lettuce, Swiss chard, arugula, carrots, radishes, potatoes, tomatoes, herbs, flowers, and springtime eggs!
- Christopher Farm will have the last of the Mayan Jaguar lettuce as well as garlic scapes and lots of scallions.
- Jason Michael Thomas will have asparagus and fig seedlings as well as his ancient grain sourdough and cheesy jalapeno cornbread.
- Hubbard & Craven will feature bold Ube Uplift Matcha this week .
- Grandma’s Kitchen is bringing spinach ricotta stuffed shells, roasted chicken sweet potato and broccoli (GF). and new vegan spicy chickpeas and tomatoes over basmati rice.
- Get Dirt Rich Compost & Soil is extending their season for one more week after this one. Stop by This Saturday or next week June 6th and grab what you need to get your gardens and flower beds started for the season.

I looked at dozens of spring salad recipes this week and saw things I liked about many of them but nothing just right. I finally decided to create my own with all the ingredients I wanted to see in my salad and none of the things I didn’t. Here is what I came up with…
