If you’re like me, you have multiple partially used jars of jam and preserves in your fridge. But I’ve been using them up recently since I discovered all the delectable things you can do with a little bit of fruit jams/preserves. You could say, “it’s my jam”!

Here’s a delicious dozen ways to use up jars of jam:

  1. Bump up breakfast. A little jam added to maple syrup takes your pancake or waffle game up a notch to new levels. Brush a little on the bacon too!
  2. Fabulous filling. Or thin out the pancake batter and cook up some crepes to fill with straight jam. Roll them up and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  3. Great grilled cheese. Grab your favorite melty cheese and spread some jam for the best grilled cheese sandwich ever! You might even try it with a little mustard.
  4. Hot off the griddle. While you’re grilling sandwiches, how about buttering up that nut butter & jam sandwich and giving it the grill treatment for a hot toasty change.
  5. Classic baked treat. Wrap that good melty cheese in pastry dough after topping it with some tasty jam, and bake for a classic elegant appetizer.
  6. Amazing appetizers. Hot pepper jelly and cream cheese on crackers is another classic. Take any good fruit jam and add chopped chiles or a dash or two of hot sauce for the same effect.
  7. Jazzed up marinade. Add Jam to your favorite meat marinade for a sweet kick of flavor. And maybe a dash of hot sauce for a kick of heat as well.
  8. Perfect pan sauce. When making meatballs, chicken breasts, pork chops, steaks, etc., add a little jam to the pan sauce for incredible flavor.
  9. Gorgeous glaze. Mix jam with brown sugar and grainy mustard for a glaze that works on baked ham, pork roast, roasted chicken, or roasted veggies.
  10. Vinaigrette variation. Make a basic vinaigrette and add some jam to give your salad greens added elegance and flavor. It works with bottled vinaigrette too.
  11. Yummy yogurt. Put a dollop or two of jam in a cup of plain or vanilla yogurt for a custom fruit-added healthy snack.
  12. Delicious Drizzle. Warm up a bit of jam in a microwave safe measuring cup, thin with a shot of compatible liqueur and drizzle over ice cream, cake, or pie.

Try these ideas, and I guarantee you’ll have that top shelf of your fridge cleaned out in no time. Then you’ll have to buy more jams & preserves at the Market.
