Happy Independence Day!
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we might take a moment to reflect on the independent spirit shown by our revolutionary founders. Our vendors here at the BRFM show a similar independence of spirit – from the small family farms that dedicate their days to growing chemical-free produce to the artisan makers who handcraft everything from cheese to gourmet chocolates for loyal local customers. That spirit is alive and well here at the Market!
Vendor Highlights for July 4, Week #1
VENDOR NEWS & UPDATES:
- Look for fresh produce like sweet corn, peaches, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, plums, zucchini, sugar snap peas, English shell peas, green beans, scallions, garlic, celery, lettuce, kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, Swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, radishes, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, herbs, and fresh picked flowers!
- Home Ec will be do a PopUp this week. Regular marketgoers will remember this vendor from past seasons with her unique and delicious homemade preserves.
- Pots & Pans Pie Co. has sold out of their new Semiquincentennial Pie, but check out the sweet pie menu for July — it looks delicious!
- Vangicookies/Latin Arepa are taking donations for the victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela. They need non-perishable food, clothing, bedding, etc. The victims have lost everything. Items can be dropped off at the Vangicookies booth this Saturday.
- Sirocco Ridge Farm is donating 10% of their sales this week to Second Helpings in honor of our nations’s Semiquincentennial.

- Driving Wind Berry Farm will start their season with us this Saturday. They will have loads of blueberries!
- Nujac Garden will also be starting their season this week.
- Christopher Farm is back with multiple garlic and cucumber varieties, including “quirks”!

- U-Relish is here for their once-a-month appearance. Just in time to make good use of your slow cooker on these hot days.
- The Daily Blossom is back this Saturday.
- Indy Coffee Roasters is back this week as well.
- Chez Pauline is out again this Saturday, back July 11th
- Dot Dot Dumplings is out this week; here off-schedule July 11th
- Bake Sale Bakery, The Baker’s Library, Food Florist, Lick Ice Cream, and Wild Alaska Salmon & Seafood are also out this Saturday.

WHAT’S COOKING: Classic Potato Salad
Make it a truly traditional American 4th of July this year with all the classic cookout dishes. Start with burgers and brats on the grill and round it out with fresh corn-on-the cob, deviled eggs, potato salad, and a cobbler for dessert.

Having Tilt-a-Squirrel (with Robert Bruce Scott) this Saturday is a rare treat. They will be playing their usual eclectic mix including originals, classic rock, traditional, jazz standards, even a tango!
